Most L2P issues are caused by using an unbalanced cable for one of the connections. As a balanced attenuator, the L2P will only work as intended if the cables to both input and output are balanced. The remaining issues are caused by a cold solder joint or a resistor in the wrong place.

General resources

No attenuation, weak bass, or the pad settings don't behave as expected

  1. Confirm both ends of your signal chain are genuinely balanced. The L2P is designed for balanced I/O, and running it with unbalanced cables, a mismatched patchbay, or a TRS-to-XLR wiring error produces exactly these kinds of unexpected results.

One or more cold solder joints

Make sure all your solder joints form shiny tents that cover the entire pad. Reflow any joints that look less than perfect. See Cleaning Up Solder Joints for more on how to identify and fix cold solder joints.

One or more resistors in the wrong position

Double check all the resistor values by their color codes. (You cannot reliably confirm resistor values with a multimeter after they've been installed in the circuit.)
